Becoming a UHS apprentice

There are three ways to become an apprentice at University Hospital Southampton.

Find a job here

Not all of our apprentice roles start out as apprenticeships. We try to offer our staff the best career development opportunities available, which means that often we’ll recruit our apprentices from within the Trust. The best way to get onto one of our apprenticeship courses is to secure a job here first.

Take a look at our current vacancies and get in touch with the recruiting manager (whose details will be at the bottom of the advert) to find out if there are apprenticeship opportunities you could explore, should you be successful in applying for the role.

If we don’t currently have a vacancy you’re suited to, you can sign up to our job alerts to have any vacancies in areas of interest delivered directly to your inbox.

Apply for an apprentice role directly

While not all of our roles start as apprenticeships, there are some that are regularly advertised on our apprenticeship vacancies page (please note that if there are none currently available, you’ll be redirected to our current vacancies page).

To make sure you don’t miss any apprenticeship roles we advertise, you can sign up for our job alerts, and apprentice vacancies will be delivered directly to your inbox as soon as they appear on our site.

Apply for a role that requires a qualification

Some of our roles require you to have a specific qualification and will provide you with the opportunity to gain this qualification if you don’t already have it. For these positions, any mandatory training will be clearly stated in the advert and all you need to do is to apply for the role.

You can find all opportunities, including roles with mandatory qualification requirements, on our current vacancies page.

If you’re still unclear or have questions about any of the routes we’ve described above, contact apprenticeshipcentre@uhs.nhs.uk and we’ll be happy to help!
