Piam Brown nursing recruitment day

Southampton General Hospital; Tremona Road; Southampton; SO16 6YD
8 December 2018

Do you want to make a difference in a child’s life every single day?

Would you like to be part of a regional specialist paediatric oncology and haematology unit?

If you’re looking to work in a caring environment, where no two days are the same, then come and join our team on Piam Brown.

Piam Brown is currently a 12 bedded inpatient unit with adjoining day ward and clinics. We care for young patients – from birth up to 16 years of age – who have been diagnosed with cancer and are receiving treatment. As a regional service, we treat patients from across the south of England, and are undergoing further expansion to be able to offer our patients the highest levels of care.

To support this expansion, we’re looking for motivated nurses at band 5 and 6 level who wish to develop their existing skills and experience to join us in this challenging and rewarding specialty.

 You will need to be

  • A qualified RSCN/RN child brand or adult RN
  • Competent in the administration of intravenous therapy
  • Willing to undertake chemotherapy administration training

In addition to the above, as a band 6 we would expect to see:

  • Proven ward/unit management experience
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Evidence of personal development to include an oncology course

Please note that previous experience of giving chemotherapy is desirable, though not essential. Southampton Children’s Hospital offers fantastic training and development opportunities, giving you the tools you need to achieve the career you want. We offer an oncology education pathway, supported by our clinical facilitator, and will support new staff in learning the skills required for the post.

If you’re interested in developing your skills and experience in our specialist unit, apply now for our recruitment day on 8 December, where you can find out more about the area and be interviewed for a post on the very same day.
