Foundation fellowship training

UHS offers a range of training fellowships that run alongside our UK national training rotations. Our fellowship programmes offer equivalent training suited to those following a more unconventional training pathway. If you’ve trained overseas and are looking for a supportive environment in a centre of excellence to orientate into the NHS way of working, these fellowships are perfect for you. Whatever your stage of medical training, we can help you find the training you need.

If you've recently qualified overseas and are eligible for GMC registration, our two-year foundation fellowship is likely to suit you best. Even though you will have some experience in order to be eligible for GMC registration, we find that the opportunity to be here for two years offers doctors the chance to really feel confident that their training and performance is at the same level as the UK foundation expects. Our aim is to get to know you, your career aims and support you to achieve your goals. We have an excellent success rate in achieving this.

We currently offer posts in:

  • trauma and orthopaedics

  • medicine for older people

  • specialist medicine (such as gastrointestinal and respiratory)

  • surgery (such as general and hepatobiliary)

  • cancer care (such as medical and clinical oncology and haematology)

  • emergency medicine.

All trainees will have a supervisor for each placement and specialty teaching on the wards. Take a look at our current vacancies, or email meded@uhs.nhs.uk if you would like more information or have any questions.
