UHS graduate scheme: operations management

Each year we look for exceptional graduates to join our in-house graduate management training scheme. The scheme offers the opportunity to build a challenging and rewarding career within NHS operational management.

As one of the largest teaching trusts in England, we're a great place to start your career. We’re one of only a few trusts in the UK that have the ability to care for people from before they’re born right through to the end of their lives, providing almost every specialism to over 1.9 million people living in Southampton and beyond.

During your time in our graduate scheme, you’ll gain broad experience at all levels of a large, complex NHS organisation, with the intention that you'll be qualified for a management post within the Trust at the end of the scheme.

“The skills and knowledge I have gained from the experiences, challenges, shadowing, projects, education and countless other opportunities have been invaluable.

At my time in UHS I have supported the management of corporate projects, inpatients, outpatients, theatres and emergency departments, I can’t think of another scheme which would have allowed me to experience such a breadth of services.

You really get to see the impact your decisions can have on our patients and teams, and the chance to leave behind lasting positive changes. Working with such motivated, caring and experienced colleagues, across all NHS professions, has been truly inspiring.”

"The UHS Graduate Management Training Scheme has provided an encouraging and informative environment, building a strong foundation of knowledge, skills and behaviours upon which I have felt enabled and supported to embark on a career within NHS management.

I am delighted that following the scheme I secured an Operations Manager position within UHS.  The relationships I have formed throughout the scheme combined with the learning and self-growth that has occured (and continues to!) is enabling me to support our patients, their loved ones, and my colleagues to the best of my ability."

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
