A career in allied health

One of the advantages of working at UHS is that our allied health professionals are fully integrated into patient care – you’ll work hand in hand with your clinical colleagues to provide a respected voice in your area of expertise.

For rotational staff, a wide and varying experience is available as UHS is home to a number of therapy teams based across the Trusts’ specialties including cancer care, cystic fibrosis, major trauma, cardiothoracics and neurology.  And depending on your role, you may find yourself working out in the community, adding even greater variety to your day.

A number of our team are also clinical academics providing clinical expertise and guidance on career development for those interested in research. You’ll have access to the onsite health services library as well as excellent training and development opportunities - our dedicated training, development and workforce team offers a range of courses including clinical skills, leadership and management.

We offer a varied range of allied health roles, including:

SUPPORTING STAFF AND PATIENTS

As well as patients, our dietitians and physiotherapists also help support their colleagues as part of our government funded LiveWell and inspire health and wellbeing programme for staff (we were one of only a few trusts to be awarded government funds to run such a programme).

Through LiveWell and inspire, we offer a dedicated self-referral clinic for staff with musculoskeletal problems, and we have introduced voluntary health checks for staff, mindfulness support, and advice to support lifestyle changes such as smoking cessation, weight management and increasing physical activity.
