A career in senior management

The sheer scale, breadth and complexity of UHS makes it one of the most varied and challenging environments to work in (we’re one of the largest providers in the UK), and a place where your experience, expertise and passion can be nurtured and put to great use.

It might sound a little cliché, but we genuinely pride ourselves on being led by a team who work together to ensure we overcome obstacles and stay ahead of the game, seeking out the areas where we can improve further still.

UHS is led by our Trust Board, headed up by our chief executive officer. Our various departments and divisions are in turn directed by key members of staff, each with a portfolio of responsibilities. Within the specialties, senior members of staff - from matrons to heads of departments - lead on delivering the Trust’s strategies and ensure that the services we provide, as well as the teams providing them, are always improving.

Our reputation, both internationally and nationally, sees us lead on a number of pioneering healthcare initiatives and we continue to invest in capital estates projects. We’re also the recipients of significant government investment in key areas such as staff health and wellbeing and digital excellence (for which we’re award winners).

All of the above means you’ll be able to focus on the positive operational and strategic aspects of running a Trust of this size.
