In this role, you will support both Performance and the Referral Management Team (RMT).
We are seeking an organised, proactive Operational Coordinator to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills and an interest in supporting the delivery of operational change.
A key element of the role is centralising referral booking in date order and serving as the subject-matter expert for the new digital platform coming in Q1, in line with NHSE’s new referral directives.
In this role, you will:
• Help deliver smooth patient pathways and efficient daily operations
• Support 18-week RTT delivery through accurate tracking and validation
• Improve data quality to strengthen performance and patient safety
• Support new referral management models, including digital triage
• Provide leadership to admin teams and support service resilience – Referral Management Team and OAC
• Deputise for managers to ensure continuity during operational pressures
Overall, the Operational Coordinator role is a key enabler of OAC objectives, improving patient access, pathway accuracy, operational resilience, and the quality of information used to drive performance. By combining data expertise, pathway oversight, administrative leadership, and operational support, the role helps deliver safer, timelier, and more effective patient care. Centralising referral booking in date order and acting as the subject matter expert for the new digital platform further strengthens consistency, efficiency, and compliance with NHSE referral directives.
The role supports both the Performance Team and the Referral Management Team (RMT) while working closely with administrative leads across the Outpatient Administration Centre (OAC). You will collaborate with team leaders and deputise for managers when required.
