As part of the NHS long term plan and ongoing vision to improve postnatal care it made a commitment that all Maternity Services will deliver an accredited, evidence based infant feeding programme. This is an exciting secondment opportunity for a passionate, motivated current UHS band 7 midwife who has sound infant feeding knowledge to lead our Infant Feeding Specialist Team and support with the implementation of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Standards.

The infant feeding lead will have a key organisational role for developing and maintaining high standards of infant feeding. They will be an innovative practitioner and an effective change agent promoting evidence-based practice and maintaining/progressing Baby Friendly status for the Trust alongside BFI champions in NICU and paediatrics areas.

The Infant Feeding Team work 7 days a week to give specialist support and advice to women and birthing people, their families, and staff to help families on their Infant feeding journey. The team are based on Lyndhurst Ward at the Princess Anne Hospital. Advice is given face-to-face, virtually and via the telephone.
