An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) for a band 6 specialist paediatric radiographer due to role progression within the department.

The role will involve:
•    Undertaking all aspects of general and trauma radiography, and fluoroscopy imaging for the children being looked after by Southampton Children's Hospital.  
•    Providing high quality imaging for in-patients, out-patients, GPs and trauma patients. 
•    Full participation in the shift roster covering the 24/7 service is essential.
•    Taking on the role of team leader in the children's radiology department 
•    Serving as a mentor and teacher for students, supernumerary staff and junior members of the team.
•    Taking on additional responsibilities to contribute to the management of the department which will add to your CV appeal.

You'll need to have suitable previous experience working as a diagnostic radiographer, an ability to stay calm under pressure and excellent imaging techniques. It would be highly desirable for you to have proven supervisory experience. 

Successful applicants can be offered a development role (Band 5 to 6 Preceptorship). The development role supports the Band 5 radiographer in developing their skills and demonstrating their ability to work as a Band 6. The preceptorship will have the duration of 3-6 months. This is competency based and during the preceptorship period the radiographer will be expected to complete the required assessments/stages to achieve essential competencies to undertake the role of specialist paediatric radiographer.
