Job Title: Clinical Pharmacist (Specialist)

Contract Type: Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team of band 7 pharmacists, rotating every 9 months through cardiovascular & thoracic (CV&T), orthopaedic and neurology departments. You'll be based in those areas full-time for each rotation and will have the opportunity to learn from local experts in those specialties. Clinical pharmacists in these departments are critical for patient safety, patient flow and medicines management.

You will apply your clinical knowledge on a daily basis, and support ward based teams, as well as the wider pharmacy department, in delivering excellent patient care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering clinical pharmacy services to the wards included in each rotation. You will complete medicines reconciliation for new patients, clinically screen discharge prescriptions to support patient flow, supply medicines to wards and provide information about medicines to patients, as well as medical and nursing staff. This is a fast-paced role, so the ability to effectively prioritise and make rapid clinical decisions is vital. You will be an essential part of the team on the wards, and within the pharmacy department. You'll complete audits, update guidelines and support the development and teaching of other staff. You'll also be encouraged to develop yourself, in line with general and advanced frameworks, depending on your current level of experience. 

This position is intended for pharmacists who are ready for a band 7 role, but applications from band 6 pharmacists, interested in completing a band 6-7 progression will be considered. 
Clinical pharmacists are expected to cover one evening shift 5pm - 7pm in dispensary each week. This will be a Friday evening once every 4 weeks, and one other week night for the other 3 weeks, depending on your preference and the needs of the service. 

Clinical pharmacists are also expected to cover one weekend shift 9am - 5pm every 6 weeks. This may be a Saturday or Sunday, depending on your preference and the needs of the service.
