The Microbiology Department at UHS is excited to advertise an opportunity for an HCPC Registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist with a strong background primarily in Microbiology (Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology) with possible opportunity to rotate into Molecular once initial competency is gained.

Candidates must already hold HCPC registration. They must have completed an IBMS specialist portfolio or have an equivalent qualification and significant experience in a diagnostic medical laboratory. If you do not have this qualification, please apply for the progressional post also advertised.

The department processes over 1,000,000 specimens per year. We employee almost 100 staff and provide a comprehensive 7 day service covering bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, virology, serology and parasitology and molecular testing.
We are IBMS accredited for pre-registration training and specialist training in medical microbiology, virology and infectious science.
