We are looking for an experienced, part-time (0.5wte), respiratory Physiotherapist for a B7 post in our respiratory outpatients centre (TRC).  It will involve leading a team of physiotherapists assessing and treating patients with a range of complex respiratory conditions.

 Clinically, the role will include both Physiotherapy-led clinics as well as involvement in MDT clinics and input for relevant cases in inpatients/community settings. It will also include leading in complex respiratory cases including physiotherapy for breathing pattern disorders and airway clearance and management of chronic lung diseases, as well as supporting students, and the whole MDT in physiotherapeutic treatment for these conditions.

As this post is part of the wider Therapy services department, you will have many opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge through our in-service training. You will be part of a large department of over 300 wte Therapy staff including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy support staff.

We provide a 7-day therapy service for our Trust and therefore you need to be able to work weekends and bank holiday, in a rota basis. For Physiotherapists this includes our acute respiratory out of hours service (On-call) at night and weekends which includes children and adults, acute wards and intensive care.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced respiratory 0.5 wte Advanced Physiotherapist, with evidenced experience in managing and treating patients with chronic lung or breathing pattern disorders. This role is an ideal opportunity for an individual who is experienced in this field and is keen to further develop their specialist respiratory and leadership skills.  

The Respiratory Centre (TRC) is an award-winning service which provides a hub for all respiratory outpatients and is staffed by a multiprofessional team, covering both local and regional respiratory services. 

Your clinical remit will involve the assessment and treatment of Outpatients/ In-patients with complex respiratory conditions who are referred to the respiratory centre. 

This post offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to build on existing clinical and managerial skills within respiratory physiotherapy and oversee the development of others. The postholder will be expected to support the therapy, nursing and medical staff with complex patients requiring respiratory physiotherapy input in both the outpatient clinics and on the acute inpatient wards. The post holder will also be expected to assist with strategic development of the UHS Therapy service.

The post holder will be expected to engage in research, as well as regular clinical audits, and maintain up to date skills and knowledge to implement evidence-based practice. The role will require supervising undergraduate students, as well as providing specialist advice to colleagues.

The successful applicant would be expected to work at weekends within all fields of medicine and be rostered on the Physiotherapy respiratory on-call and twilight rota, working across the acute wards.

As well as the attached Person Specification, the essential skills and experience needed for this specific post are: 
•    Physiotherapy qualification
•    HCPC registration
•    Expert clinical skills in treating patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
•    Proven senior level experience in breathing pattern rehabilitation, airway clearance and pulmonary rehabilitation.
•    Demonstrable skills in leading clinical audit and clinical trials
•    Experience in doing shifts within an acute respiratory on-call service - including intensive care,               
              for both adults and children 
•    Experience as a student supervisor, mentor and supervisor
•    Knowledge of NHS systems
•    Clear, expressed desire in your application form to work at UHS.

•    Experience with leading others in a clinical environment.
•    Ability to visit regional patients in the community using transport.

Desirable skills needed: 
•    Experience in an acute NHS hospital
•    Experience working clinically as a physiotherapist in community and outpatient environments
