The paediatric Gastroenterology team are excited to be recruiting an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 6 Specialist Nurse. This will be a one-year seconded post part-time 30 hours a week. As this is a dynamic role that requires specialist knowledge, you will be supported to do appropriate training for professional development.  

The role will include supporting the Band 7 Gastro CNS and the Band 7 Nutrition CNS in providing care, guidance, support and education to patients and families with a wide range of gastroenterological conditions. The successful candidate will be expected to develop specialist skills to support families, both in the clinic setting and via telephone/email. Some of this development will be in participating in joint consultant and nurse-led clinics, where they will learn how children and young people are assessed, diagnosed and treatment options discussed. They will also be expected to support the endoscopy lists where they will gain vital knowledge and education in the diagnosis and management of gastroenterological conditions.  

The successful candidate will also be expected to support the Nutrition team, and become educated in the management of parenteral nutrition, both in hospital and at home.
