This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced haematology/BMT nurse to join the Specialist nursing team working in the Wessex Regional Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit based in University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust to cover 12 month secondment for maternity leave cover. The Wessex Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit in Southampton provides regional services for patients requiring blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapies for a wide range of haematological conditions. The unit opened in 2001 and now performs over 180 transplants per year, and has some of the best outcomes in the country. Patients are referred from throughout the Wessex Region, including the Channel Islands
Our specialist nursing team consists of Lead Nurse for BMT, Senior CNS, BMT and CT CNS, allogeneic and autologous specialist nurse transplant co-ordinators and administrative care co-ordinators. We provide patient centred care to patients undergoing transplantation from the point of referral to the service, during their inpatient stay, and then during recovery both in the outpatient and day case setting.
The service is always evolving and you will be contributing to the development of these services in particularly the nurse led aspects.
The transplant service has full accreditation with both JACIE (Joint Accreditation Committee of ICE and EBMT) and the HTA (Human Tissue Authority), and within this role you will contribute to the ongoing Quality Management programme and any future inspections of the service.
