The Enhanced Care Mental Health Team at University Hospital Southampton is a small team of mental health practitioners supporting people who require enhanced support to ensure their needs are effectively met whilst in the acute general hospital. The Band 7 specialist nurse post is integral to the effective and safe implementation of enhanced care observations across the Trust.

The Enhanced Care Mental Health Team work Monday to Friday Office hours. The team sits within the Virtual Enhanced Care Group alongside our Learning Disability and Autism Team, Dementia and delirium Team and alcohol Care Team; supporting patients and staff trust wide. The team works very closely with our Mental Health Liaison Team to provide individualised, person centred care.

The post holder will plan and provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, their carers and health care professionals. You will practice clinically  working with patients across inpatient wards. You will also advise and support clinicians regarding patient’s mental health care. 

You will work across professional; departmental and Trust boundaries to develop and support patient-centred seamless care. you will be responsible for developing and implementing new initiatives to improve care.
