An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our Endoscopy team as a Band 6 Senior Endoscopy Nurse with a dedicated clinical and education role.

This is a 37.5-hour per week post, incorporating 22.5 hours of clinical practice and 15 hours of protected education time per week.

The post holder will provide senior clinical leadership within the Endoscopy Unit while having dedicated time to support the education, training and professional development of the endoscopy nursing and support workforce.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse who has a strong interest in both endoscopy and education.

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be confident in providing clinical leadership and enthusiastic about supporting colleagues to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence.

Previous experience of teaching, mentoring, coaching or competency assessment is essential, with a relevant teaching or practice education qualification desirable.

Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.

Act as a senior nurse within the clinical environment, supporting the safe and effective running of endoscopy lists.

Undertake patient assessment, preparation, monitoring and recovery.

Provide clinical leadership and support to members of the multidisciplinary team.

Promote safe practice in relation to sedation, infection prevention and control, medicines management and patient safety.

Support junior staff and learners within the clinical environment.

Act as a positive role model, promoting professional standards and compassionate patient-centred care.

Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development.

Education Role

Identify education and training needs within the Endoscopy team.

Develop, coordinate and deliver education and training programmes.

Support staff induction, preceptorship and ongoing professional development.

Facilitate endoscopy-specific teaching and clinical skills training.

Support staff to achieve and maintain relevant endoscopy competencies.

Undertake competency assessments and provide constructive feedback.

Maintain accurate education, competency and training records.

Develop and review educational resources in line with current evidence, professional guidance and service requirements.

Support the development of a positive learning environment across the Endoscopy Unit.

Work collaboratively with the Practice Educator, Endoscopy Leadership Team and wider Education Team.

Contribute to audit and evaluation of educational programmes and their impact on patient care.

Support continuous improvement in standards of clinical practice and education.
